Which Hasegawa F-4 Phantom has recessed panels?

Recommended Posts

For Hasegawa F-4 kits in 1/48, the B/N, C/D, and the first issue of the F-4J (P1 with JR markings) all have raised lines. Everything else is engraved. Here is a chart that will be of great help.

Essentially correct, although some of the early high tech versions of the J model (with the white metal and photo etched bits) also had raised panel lines. Another confusing bit is Hasegawa a couple years ago issued a limited production recessed panel line F-4J with the SAME Jolly Roger painting artwork and decals as the raised panel line one (The box art style is different as it features the more modern white borders).

I don't think that the raised panel line -J has ever been released after they came out with the recessed one. However, Hasegawa never bothered to make new tool parts for what you would need for a B/N or C/D. But don't worry if you want one of those, I have conversions coming up soon

Yes he does. I saw the first pre-production parts at Omacon a few months ago and the conversion looks NICE. I tried to convince him to let me "try" the parts since the guy they were intended for didn't make it to the show. But I guess my Jedi mind trick didn't work so well (my midichlorean count must be too low). :)
