Bonehammer73
I am severely disappointed in Germany after their last great games. Especially that guy who went looking for a penalty at the end of the first half. Glad the referee saw that correctly. Nice game foul-wise, tho. Spain did deserve another goal for their impressive display of pwnage. Am I correct that no matter how the final match goes there will be a new first-time winner? The_Animal
Well...looks like the cephalopod actually predicted the win. Damn...he's good. I wonder if he's going to be able to pick my Lotto Max winning numbers. C'mon, baby...43 million would go good in my wallet. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/10521867.stm
Impatient Pete
but they will win next time, they know how spain plays now Shouldn't they have known how Spain plays after Spain beat them in Eurocup? What a great game! I think I'll head off to Madrid to watch the Championship...
Lock n' Load
In a single match? doubt it... That's how spain won, planing, watching germany over and over, which is obvious seeing how they blocked all the killer players from Germany. Genius playing from spain actually. Yuri
Well...looks like the cephalopod actually predicted the win. Damn...he's good. I wonder if he's going to be able to pick my Lotto Max winning numbers. C'mon, baby...43 million would go good in my wallet. :( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/10521867.stm Yeah... that's amazing.... the germans were in fact a bit worried because "Paul" had predicted a spanish victory... I thought the octopus had made a blunder this time... Germany seemed a much stronger team compared to Spain..... then... well, in fact I only saw the first ten or so minutes of the match... then went to do something else.... I finished my work, turned on the tv to see the last 4 or 5 minutes... took a look at the score and... Damn! Paul guessed it right again........
rc.amsterdam
YEAH Congrats to Spain - they prevented the Germans to play as they wanted. That is quite an schievement. For those planning ot go to Spain: change your direction, go to Amsterdam, have fun and be there coming Tuesday when the Dutch team will be "taking to the canals" as nr 1 or nr 2. If the Dutch wins the Championship it will be the first time. Will the Dutch win? I have two answers. Oficially I will say Que sera sera - however deep down inside "we are the champions". Coming Sunday evening: enjoy the game.

ChernayaAkula
Ah, Spain was the better team. The way they controlled the ball, sometimes you had the impression there were 12 or 13 of 'em on the field. Did Croatia played in South Africa ?? and btw go to school and and imrove your english; correct would be to see and not zee, glupo mlade Come on, lighten up a bit! "Zee Germans" refers to Turkish picking on Tommy in the film "Sn@tch" by Guy Ritchie. Also, when correcting others, make sure you got no spellies in your own wording. <...> Especially that guy who went looking for a penalty at the end of the first half. Glad the referee saw that correctly. <...> From an Italian, that remark is quite cute right there. Sorry, couldn't let that one go, now, could I? Well...looks like the cephalopod actually predicted the win. Damn...he's good. <...> And he'll be even better. Deep-fried and with Aioli. Tasty! :o
Bonehammer73
From an Italian, that remark is quite cute right there. :D Sorry, couldn't let that one go, now, could I? ;) I guess not... You do have a point, although I think the problem is with certain players, not with a national style. Del Piero and Inzaghi have a stronger tendency to trip over themselves than either of the Baggios or Iaquinta...
ChernayaAkula
<...> I think the problem is with certain players, not with a national style. <...> And that's precisely the "problem" I have with the Italian team. They don't really need those tricks. They have very good players that should be able to take on any national team. Without the tricks. So why do they let single players drag down the whole team (at least in some people's eyes)? It's a shame, really. I think it was Quagliarella's goal against the Slovenians which was absolutely fantastic. One of the finest goals of the World Cup.
Bonehammer73
Eh, you should see the championship: Re divers making it to the national team, I'm sure this happens everywhere, but there's a lot of meddling from the federation, teams and sponsors all wanting their favorites to be included, resulting sometimes in an ensemble of top-ranked players who are physically exhausted and psychologically sated from having won the championship/Supercup/Champions League and are only there to sell shoes, and jerseys with their name on. Quagliarella is a good player from a second-rank team that hasn't made it to the international competitions in years, so he was less 'spent' and more eager to show his talent. One can only hope the burning humiliation results in overdue changes being made, and making it to Brazil with the right attitude in 2014.
Mumbles
As a neutral, I am going to watch the game on Monday morning (my time), but undecided about who to back. I know more dutch people than spanish, and a couple of friends of mine are living in the Netherlands right now, but on the other hand if Spain wins it will make New Zealand the only undefeated team at this years tournament (we didn't WIN any games either, but were expected to lose big). Hmmm, decisions decisions.....  Edited July 9, 2010 by Mumbles
