Congrats to Spain for winning the World Cup

Recommended Posts

It was like the Dutch just forgot how to play and decided to knock people over instead. That kick against Xabi Alonso was bad and the dutch were lucky to not get a red on that one.

And you can whine about the Ref all you want folks, he can't kick the ball in for Robben on those break aways... The Dutch could have won this game they had lots of chances of in regulation. Cry about the ref all you want, but you have to execute.

I love watching the Dutch if only for Van Bommel. This guy is like a yellow card waiting to happen. he fouls after the ball is kicked so often he has made it a lifestyle. He would be late to his own funeral.

hear !! Hear !! I see that the English ref Howard WEBB is actually a Sgt in the Police Force and I thought he stood his ground..and I think the way the Dutch players and other Dutch officials having a go at him after he had gotten his medal was not all that professional..Oh well its over till the next time...

p.s this is just a comment on the game and not on the Dutch people at all..I do have Dutch friends so this is about the game ...in case someone takes offense.

It's a game, in which the whole world can take part, unlike the World Series, which is reserved solely for American teams. :taunt:

Not true, there is a team from Canada that has won the World Series, The Toronto Blue Jays ...

Also, have you looked at the rosters of any of the teams in the MLB, there are players from all over the world playing Baseball at the Major League Level ...

Now, I realise that, to those north of Mexico, U.S.A. + Canada = the whole world, but, if you raise your nose above your American parapet, you'll find that there are (just a few) other countries, out there, who are capable of playing, and invited to take part, in the World Cup, and the finals are played in various countries, as well, giving the local populace a chance to enjoy the spectacle. Even cricket (you, know, baseball with class) has a World Cup, and America could take part, if they would only learn how to catch a ball with their bare hands (even Canada have managed that.)

I did not say that ...

There is the Baseball World Cup, you know, Cricket with skill ...

The UK could participate too if they could only learn how to hit a round ball with a round bat ...

No, I have something called a sense of humour, which others have managed to recognise. It's called a "leg-pull" over here, but, since it seems to be wasted, I'll leave you to your "serious" discussions.

Seems the least bit funny to me - more like a annoyance; like a mosquito buzzing your ear for example. And if that's all the sense of humor that you have, I guess the only option left is to assume that you misplaced yours somewhere....

Joke are supposed to be funny; stuff along the lines of "three blondes are stuck on an island...", "A man walks into a bar..." You know, stuff like that... or maybe you don't have those where you are?

You're snide comments in your post number 31 aren't funny, period. Besides that, seems like you're getting way off topic anyway - this is about España!

Congrats to Spain for the awesome performance! Neat seeing them win their first world cup!

LOL (I did note that your post was mostly tongue in cheek). I am a huge fan of US football but I have really enjoyed the World Cup and am sorry it is over. It's been a new experience for me and there is a lot to be said for a sport where the game isn't interrupted every 5 minutes for a series of commercials. I also really like the fact that it truly is a world sport. Would have been nice if the US made it all the way and won the final, just so the rest of the world would have to call it "soccer" but regardless, it was a great time.

BTW, I find it interesting that there are by far more kids in my area playing soccer than US football. I think the popularity of this sport in the US will continue to climb.

Congrats to Spain on a well played game!

Congrats to Spain indeed! Viva España!!

The Karate Kid should have been red-carded, no other way about that one!

Now you can whine all you want about the Ref and the cards, but it really came down to ONE player. Spain's Goalkeeper. I'll hand it to the Dutch, they pressed hard and when they shot, they shot accurately, as opposed to the some of the Spanish kicks that went wide, but Iker Casillas was always there to check the Dutch assault. Maarten Stekelenburg had some great moments, but when it comes to a game like this, all it takes is one to slip through to lose it and that's what happened.

So really, to place blame on the ref with his cardfest does a disservice not only to Spain, but also to the Dutch who fought hard and could have easily won it had Casillas been a bit off his game.

That's all I'm going to say - well except ....

Viva La Roja!!!!!

He is the best Goal Keeper in the world. Bar none. Luck is always a factor but he seems to be both good and lucky!
