I think this is a test set-up at a sentry post. But I have heard that there is work being done on actual combat infantry robotic systems in several nations. One of those nations is the US, but despite working systems being demonstrated by robotics companies the Army already said they won't deploy any of them.
boscosticks
I guess UAVs don't technically count as robots.. but I wouldn't be surprised when robotics take over military forces. Can you guys imagine what we'd have to work with for plastic modeling?! Edited July 18, 2010 by boscosticks

The basics of much of what we read/see in SciFi robots will come true over the next several hundred years. Don't even get me started on genetic engineering. That's another bull in china shop we are going to have to deal with. I sometimes try to talk about these things to people I know. Most don't want to stretch their minds as it seems far fetched to them and won't really affect much in their lifetime anyway.

And which of them do you reckon is more obnoxious? (Unless you're North Korean, that's a tough one! ) Edited July 18, 2010 by ChernayaAkula

spejic
Can you guys imagine what we'd have to work with for plastic modeling?! Working robotic weapon carrying kits? Sign me up. It's about time my models stopped sitting around all day and started doing something useful. Like hunt the cat.
