Eric2020
I have just painted several travelpods in primer, and I am looking for some colourfull ideas on travelpods as used by the USAF and other NATO countries. Anything will go I think.

Eric2020
:) <_< Thanks for posting!!! Realy stunning travelpods!! I did not know it was possible to have the travelpods on the centerline instead of the fueltank. Also I noticed that they have handles on them for easy handling, mine are not having that, but can make them as the pods are just in primer.
F106A
When I was in HS I used to do odd jobs for a retired USAF F-4 pilot. He told me they originally used old napalm tanks for their travel pods, as the tanks weren't stored full, and all they had to do was have the sheet metal guys put a hatch on them. Worked like a charm according to him. Mark
Sabc
The following photos of the F-15E Demo Team travel pod were made by Christopher Williams (www.semperapollo.com) in El Paso in 2009. The latter two are very interesting, since this is actually the logo of our website, F-15E.info. The round F-15E logo was originally designed by USAF, the "Shoots down what's up, blows up what's down" text and the stylized US flag was added by us and the three motives together form our logo. In was adopted by the F-15E Demo team in 2009, as you can see on the photos below, but the 'www.' and '.info' texts were deleted from the pod in the 2010 Deke Slayton Air Fest, which is a shame. Anyhow, it still looks mighty cool and we are extremely proud of it!

Cool thing about travel pods is you can have some fun modeling them - I know we always had fun paining up the real thing. There never really were any limits as to what you could do, and just about every one was different in colors, design - even functionality. Functionality? Let's just say that some hatches were a little more secure than others... Some have handles, some don't. Some of those handles come from Home Depot, some also, don't... Just a hint for all of you travel pod packers: Yes, you can fit several BIG salmon in your travel pod when they're all fresh and "bendy". BUT, after you fly cross country, at an altitude where it's real cold out (it's a technical term), it's a LOT more difficult to get 'em out of that little door... Nikonfan
Sorry I have no photo of the pod itself to hand right now, but the Belgian Air Force F-16 has a travel pod painted in the same scheme as the display jet for this year; The pod seems to travel on the spare aircraft, and I'm sure someone will be able to dig out a decent photo of it... wh1skea
F-16 ~ Viper West2009 Deke Slayton Air Fest, La Crosse, WI Definitely the best pod paint schemes, IMO.
Aggressor Supporter
Looks like the Air Force is more creative colorful in travel pod schemes than their planes!
