The Ridiculously Overpriced Thread

Recommended Posts

Not a plastic model but an HO Train car, brass, but $936.00, I can't think of anything comparable in scale modeling, not even a oop Cutting Edge, or Sol Su-27 conversion that draws that kind of money, the thing had better start up and lift something...

Not that I begrudge the money, but I just sold a Classic Airframes Westland Whirlwind for $125. Wow. I started the bid at $14.99. Now, I do have two more. What to do?Hmmm....

Offer one to the next bidder for the same price? :D

Actually, that's not uncommon for HO Brass. My father, a major model railroader (does G scale in his basement - www.wvrr.ca) has a few brass HO engines and they're very much valued in those price ranges. Not something you run on tracks but keep for investments.

Check out some of the prices on http://www.brasstrains.com/ Some of these engines are over 2 grand.

For those of you that have this kit..

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-72-Hasegawa-ES-3A-Shadow-VQ-5-Seashadows-S-3-Viking-/150750427180?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23196cf82c

Boy, am I glad I bought that in my LHS last year..I remember that kit sitting there for atleast the last 6 or 7 years. Dunno if I'll be selling it anytime but if it would go for that price, I'd sell..

Holy cow, I was watching that auction but gave up once it hit the $35 mark. If I remember correctly the kit only included an extra small sprue or two for the hump and some of antennae parts.

Looking at mine right now it's 7 white metal parts and the decals. Otherwise it's your standard S-3A with raised panels and all.

They claim it to be non-fictious! Oh, i dont know...supposed to be rare & O.O.P. i guess.

On the flip side, the lowest i ever did see was two MISB Heller kits i claimed from a seller in Phoenix.

Please note the sick shipping charges!!! Needless to say, i asked the seller to "keep the change" (on the shipping ofcourse)

To add some intrigue, i actually went ahead and bought an upgrade set for that Helldiver from Starfighter decals. It was the resin

upgrade set and the engine upgrade set valued at right around 30US! Somewhere deep down inside of me, i just felt i could afford it :-)
