HeavyArty
I have completed my summer-long conversion of an M109 howitzer into an M992A2 FAASV (Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicle). The build-thread can be seen here. I have wanted to build an M992A2 for a long time. I am finally glad to have one in my collection. I have marked it as a FAASV from 1-41 FA, 3ID during the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003. Eventually, I will do an M109A6 Paladin from 1-41 FA to go with it. Here is the final piece. More pics can be seen here As always, all comments are welcomed. Let me know what you think.
11bee
Nice job, I've been following this for a while. Just curious, did these often have the Mk 19 mounted? Only seen .50 cal MGs. Regards, John
HeavyArty
Thanks John, I'm glad you like it. As to the Mk19, usually each howitzer section (which includes the M109A6 and M992A2) has one M2 .50 cal and 1 Mk19. The .50 cal is usually mounted on the howitzer and the Mk19 is usually mounted on the FAASV.
arkhunter2002
Looks great! I like how you went about the conversion, especially because there isn't a resin conversion set. Take care, Austin
HeavyArty
Thanks Austin. I thought the laser-cutting was a pretty neat way to do it as well.
KursadA
Hey, it looks awesome! My T-155 conversion is still not finished. I'm glad to see that the laser cutting idea worked well for you. Edited August 25, 2010 by KursadA
