MikeEM
I use an HP-BCS and was wondering if a crown cap improves fine lines on this airbrush. I've tried playing around with the double action trigger and air pressure, but was wondering if a crown cap would help. Thanks in advance.

A crown cap on any airbrush will let you get closer to the subject without blow back causing problems with the paint flow. The crown cap allows air to escape out the sides when you spray. It should allow you to get closer and therefore finer lines. Edited August 31, 2010 by terryt
GGoheen
I've bought and used the crown cap on my HP-CS but anymore just remove it entirely as it can still gum up with paint depending on conditions. The downside, of course, to doing this is that the tip of the needle is fully exposed and vulnerable to being bent or damaged. Still, with care and awareness, it really is the only way to go....so just pitch them and airbrush that much more freely. Best, Greg
CorsairMan
I have the crown cap and I get very close to the surface for tight and fine lines. Some people do without any cap and that ought to work but I can be absent minded and I wouldnt want to bend that needle
