Two Mikes
This was taken on Coronado Island in San Diego, California in June 1987 while on my senior trip after graduating High School. My apologies for the bad quality but it was taken from a moving bus and a 110 film camera! I wonder if you need to poke a few holes in the bag before you microwave it?! GreyGhost
Interesting pic, thanks Mike ... I was on NAS NI about a couple of months later or so for a friend that had been recently assigned to the Connie ... Gregg
wh1skea
Proof that there is cat in burritos....... :) j/k, I know there is no cat in burritos. As for the Connie, my stepdad served on the Connie during Wespac '85. That would also be the F/A-18's first operational deployment.
Aggressor Supporter
Putting on a car cover must be a piece of cake compared to this.

Rafael
I`ve seen this kind of cover beeing used to preserves the airframes while they are "in stock". It protects from the weather and the tube in the nose is a fan to keep inside dry. It`s used when maintence guys schedule to put the aircraft in the flight line not so soon. GreyGhost
Whats the story behind this pic ? My guess is that since NAS NI was a rework facility for the F-14 back in the day like it is now for the F/A-18 and as Rafael pointed out, this one is probably 'in stock' and about to go through rework ... Tomcat RIO
interesting, now we can get a use for the 1/48 fujimi tomcat, with some tape here and there, we can call it a diorama. "It's a Wrap!"
