Jennings
Southwest is buying out AirTran! http://money.cnn.com/2010/09/27/news/compa...ndex.htm?hpt=T2
GCA333
Where are the renderings, J? :D
MiG31
Are we sure that they'll retain AirTran's 717s long after the merger? Southwest tends to love all things 737, if memory serves, though they did operate 727s in the past.
Jennings
I've never done (nor had any reason to do) a 717, so no profiles I'm afraid. SW flew a couple of 727s for a verrrrrrry short time in the 1970s. Otherwise it's been nothing but 737s. I suspect the AirTran 717s (sorry, I just can't call them that, they're MD-95s) will be on the market forthwith. J
GCA333
Rather defeats SW's one-type fleet philosophy. http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2010/...-717-fleet.html
Jennings
Interesting. I suppose it's because of the size of the AirTran MD-95 (sorry..) fleet. Who'd have ever thought we'd see a Southwest DC-9?? J
Eagle21
Not the best photos in the world, but I took these in 1984 (I think, might have been in 1983) when I worked at Associated Air Center at Love Field. JMC
Jay Chladek
I wonder if Southwest jets will have "conference rooms" now.
Jennings
Pretty rare bird you got a pic of. IIRC they only leased them for a period of months. They had (and still don't) no flight engineers in their employ. Nice catch! J
757flyer
What might be.... http://www.airlinercafe.com/forums.php?m=p...p;p=34141#34141 Mike
waltmert
Considering that SW is an all real Boeing airline, I will find it unusual to believe that they will keep the 717(MD-95 for Jennings) But.....She will look really cool in blue. Walter
