A relaxing Draken

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here is a little build I did over the summer to relax from my more ambitious detailing project. As such it is not 100% as accurate/detailed as I like but at least it's finished :) I also took the opportunity to try a couple of new techniques, namely

_In-flight stand (Home made in the workshop with a bit of welding rod threaded at the extremities and a bit of aluminium plate engraved and drilled/tapped). A nut was glued inside the fuselage before assembly

_ Gimp (Linux' Photoshop) to do "in flight" pictures

_The salt technique to fade the camouflage, fantastic and so easy!

I used Two Bobs decals "Swedish Drakens". I was a bit disappointed but two things:

_The instructions do not show the paint as I saw it here, in particular the two dark rectangles on the wings that mask part of the "66", and some stencils are missing (In particular the large "Danger intake" on top of the intakes)

_The two part decals are quite annoying to apply. While I can understand why it may be necessary in some situations I see plenty of tiny decals printed as one without any particular register problem.

Anyway, I had fun and here are the pictures :)

Thanks for looking and a special thanks to Derek Moss for the kit!
