Be Careful With Your Superglue

I've come close maybe, but never actually done this:

I CA'd my watch to my wrist once about 10 years ago. The cat knocked the bottle over, the cap flew off, and it splashed all over my wrist. Interesting time trying to explain that to the doctor at the ER.

I tend to agree with the 'attention-grabber' comment. Superglue is strong, but not permanent. I use it occasionally to seal deep cuts or to keep a broken fingernail attached so as not to leave flesh exposed, and normal movements cause the stuff to come off in a day or two.

I'm not allowed to use the thin type superglue any more. I once superglued myself to my pants and my pants to my chair when applying what was probably a bit too liberal amount of it to a resin figure model. The glue ran down my hand and dripped into my lap. I got the model out of my hand and to the bench then proceeded to peel myself from my chair and my pants. Unfortunately, I had no Acetone to help with that. I recovered without any serious visible damage to my body. My mind on the other hand...

I can only use the thick stuff now. Oh yes, the model also had to be detached from the workbench. That was an adventure in and of itself.

Terry :(

I could be wrong, but isn't this what CA was really invented for? :( To be used in medical surgery? Think I heard something in that direction.

Eyelid

In the event that eyelids are stuck together or bonded to the eyeball, wash thoroughly with warm water and apply a gauze patch. The eye will open without further action within 1-4 days. To our knowledge there has never been a documented case of adhesive in the eye causing permanent damage. Do not try to force eyes open.

superglue was actualy invented for use as a battlefield and emergency army form of fast sutering ( stitches )

it was only later it became tradable for other uses

it actualy works better if there is a degree of moisture present !!

I graduated with an architecture degree...so lots of model building of our designs was a must. I always managed to clog my bottle tips so I would use a small 1/16" piece of basswood to dip in and apply. It worked well for me, and this particular model was tricky where I had to spray accelerator to get the piece just so....so I would just hold the basswood between my teeth during applications. Well being as tired as architecture students tend to get, I didnt realized until it was too late that I put the basswood in backwards...
