madmanrick
Hobby Boss 1 48 F-14A Tomcat. Gotta say that based on a quick peek at the contents inside the box, this is a nice looking model kit. A couple of things that I noticed right off the bat: kit comes with a TARPS pod (which is not used for this kit, probably intended for the "D" model) external fuel tanks intakes feature an internal sleeve that should create a seamless intake when assembled complete missile loadout (6 AIM-54, 4 AIM-7 & 2 AIM-9's) everything is packaged superlatively, with cushioning material over delicate parts and separate boxes for the smaller sprues (a HB practice carried over from their other large kits) A couple of issues reared their head in this look see: Rubber tires & plastic rims exhaust nozzles leave quite a lot to be desired The surface engraving is quite nice (very petite), although I am only speaking of looks and not accuracy. All in all, a winner in the looks department. Of course, we'll see how it holds up in the accuracy and fit departments later. Price is still an issue, although I grabbed this from eBay and was able to obtain this kit for under $60 shipped, which puts it in line with Hasegawa kits in terms of price.
