Bf-109 Wheel Well Openings

Recommended Posts

I'm by no means an experten on Luftwaffe aircraft and the more I try and research, the more confused I become (easy thing for me). Which versions of the Bf-109 had the round wheel well openings and which had the squared openings? I've seen discussions where certain versions had the square openings expecting landing gear covers but then later went to round openings. I've built kits and have various manufacturers kits where late G's and K's have the square openings. Which is correct or should I even worry about it?

All Bf 109, series except the 'F' had the squared off wheel openings. Then as Jes said some 'F' series still had the squared instead of rounded opening. Depends on series and builder. F-4 was mostly rounded, F-2 and earlier were usually squared. If you need more specifics, ask away.

For some obscure reasons (mainly due to me approaching 50)I was thinking about the holes in the strut housing...not the WHEEL openings :jaw-dropping: ...disregard my post and cope with my lone neuron :) !
