Wiggy
Even MORE progress! Got the ailerons and wing tips and tail group installed... The wheels were too fat to fit into the wells. So I had to sand them down to fit. Also introduced that slight camber... MUCH more to follow... In the hangar, Wiggy

tornado64
I never understand why not simply shoot down the V-1 in the air. Good Luck SouthViper typhoons did shoot them down instead of tipping the typhoon was a more rugged heavier aircraft !! but the explosion vortex was still enough to throw the aircraft upside down ( any aircraft entering the explosion vortex of the v1 was thrown inverted ) and there's the reason the explosion vortex , the typhoon was a more rugged aircraft for the job of shooting them down !! Wiggy
The things we go through to (try to) "get it right". My project Spit used the "fish tail" exhaust stacks, however the AeroClub conversion kit came with "round" stacks. I had to go through my stash to find "proper" exhaust stacks- from a P-40N kit. These individual pipes were designed to fit into receiver holes. Starting with empty slots swirling with air, I had to glue plates inside the fuselage for something to mount the pipes to. Before I went to paint, I wanted to get the holes drilled and prepped. First hole I drilled, the plate snapped loose and fell into the fuselage. The other side wasn't any better! Solution: curse, remove the rattling bits, curse, cut/lay-off/drill new scratch-built pieces, then glue each pipe in place. These new assemblies will fill the slots. Long way around the block but this should do the job. Oh boy... In the hangar, Wiggy
Wiggy
S l o w l y , The Spitfire project moved forward- like a glacier ! I can feel myself aging during this whole process. However, progress can be a beautiful thing. I cleaned-up some more of the fuselage seams that were lost during the build-up and rub-down. I removed the radio access hatch from the port side and scribed a new one where it should be on a Mk.XIVc- the starboard side. Next were all those zeus fasteners and rivets. I drilled about 240 "holes" of different diameters... Such a patient soul, Flt. Lt. H. D. Johnson requests some "color" for his ship. At last, we're off to the "paint shop" next. Stay tuned... Wiggy
I can hardly believe it myself- a little progress... I masked-off the trailing edge of the fuselage band and shot some "Sky type S". Next, I cheated and had a local sign shop make me the correct size/font letters: DL.K. I have them in position and I'm about to start the invasion stripes. When the paint work is finished, I "hope" to pull the masks and reveal "Sky letters". More to follow... In the hangar, Wiggy
Dirkpitt289
This is a good one to watch. Can't wait to see how it looks with the stripes
danjparsons
I love this kind of modeling. So cool man...so cool! Reminds me a little of my MIG-15 vs Sabre display with the Sabre pilot pulling a "Goose" and giving the MIG Pilot "the bird." Cant wait to see how it turns out! Wiggy
looking good Wiggy, this will be a neat display when done. Thanks for the kind words. Wish I had more time to devote to the hobby. Here's some more pics of those stripes. I had a local sign shop make me the code masks- they're working-out well. Gonna' paint the belly next. Have to correct the pieced-together "Franken-Spit" scoop: too much lower lip. More to follow... In the hangar, Wiggy

Wiggy
great build...can you tell me what colors you used for the V-1 ? thanks Mikereg, sorry it's been so long getting back to you. Too many other projects! The V-1 was painted with RML 71 "Dunkelgrun" over RML 65 "Hellblau". Hope this helps. Wiggy
More progress... I got side-tracked trying to make a custom decal, so I grit my teeth and hand painted the tiny nose art. She's 9mm tall and roughly 12mm long... I need professional help! Also made my new "spinning" spinner- not too bad for "shade tree" wood working. Started to lay-off the "spinning" prop blades... More to follow. In the hangar, Wiggy

Wiggy
"Interesting impromptu lathe." Well, I needed a lathe, but I did have the shade tree. Since necessity is the Mother of invention... Wiggy
OK, more pics. I finished the decals. Kinda' unique how the fuselage invasion stripes covered the "RB1" in RB188. I raked through my spare decals box and found the numbers/letters I needed for both sides. Those decals have to be at least 30 years old- they pitched-a-fit but I coaxed them to lay down. Still need to touch-up some areas I "over-masked". Here's a better shot of the nose art, and some of the "Zeus fastener forest". More to follow...
