Phantoms don't take long to build. Especially when you have built as many as me!

Hasegawa 1/48 F-4J with Aeromaster decals.

Built out of the box (apart from the decals) and a couple pieces of 90 degree brass to hold up the wings.

This one was built to replace one built some years ago in baby scale.

And if your going to build one VF-74 Phantom you might as well build two.

This one is has after market seats, but I'm not sure by who, it also uses aftermarket decals in this case from Eagle strike.

This one was also built to replace an older baby model......

Here is my completed BTD-1 from Planet Models, in 1/72 (all resin kit). The BTD-1 was supposed to be a plane that could handle both the dive-bomber and torpedo bomber roles. Changing requirements prolonged development, and resulting plane never saw service, despite being a good performer.

It was a fun, fast build, as the quality of the kit was very good. Few fit issues, and few pinholes that can be a nightmare with resin kits.

Ugly thing, isn't it? :)

Went and used up a whole bunch of after market stuff. I received this kit (hasegawa special addition)from another modeler who did not want to do it. Came with resin intakes. First time I ever used them on the Phantom and boy what a difference. I have no idea what company they came from but they matched the old school Hasegawa Phantom (raised lines) well.

Then, Eduard photo etch and Eagle Strike decals. Also the Hasegawa special addition metal stuff.

Its CVW-8 VF-142 in 1974 as on board the America. Wish some one would do decals for VF-143.

I built this one to replace the little 1/72 guy. Its going to Tony's place.

Hi all,

Just my opinion here.

But I feel the gallery shound only be used to post pictures of the finished models.

Comments should be given in the buildreport.

If we all start like this the gallery will becomme a mess.

Erwin, there will be a website of simply gallery images. I will be doing that within the next couple of weeks. So people can go there and view them without sifting through other's postings

First of all, I apologise for not including more in-progress photos.

I had to solve a couple of problems (largely due to my fault) and didn't manage to take more photos.

-I lost the gunsight.

-Problems with the cockpit tub fit, which led to....

-Problems with the landing gear fit.

-Airbrush was splattering paint to infinity and beyond- no hope of seeing fine lines.

-A masking/Future-related accident forced me to paint the whole canopy by hand.

-Ran out of thinner- last I checked, there was only about a teaspoonful's worth of the stuff left.

All that being said, here she is, my first AB project.

EDITED with better pictures after I weathered it a bit. Wasn't happy with the clean look of it before.

Here's my completed build

Monogram 1/72 F4B-4, Starfighter Decals, Scratch-built interior, rigging added, minor details on engine too.

Great little kit, really enjoyed building this. May do another yellow wing (Helldiver, Devastator or who knows!) later on.
