Chris707
I've posted a couple of early 20th century battleship articles at: http://www.dataviewbooks.com/naval.html the first (1907) deals with the Japanese Satsuma which would have beaten Dreadnought as the first all-big gun ship had she been finished to the original design - there is a photo of the ship's launching. The second is a 1918-vintaqe cross-section plan for a US 12-inch turret - there was no data on any specific class. Chris

FIGHTS ON
Great link & interesting articles - thank-you. Was not the Japanese Satsuma just a copy build of the RN's Lord Nelson class? and Dreadnought's other major 'first' was the radical introduction of parson's steam turbines whereas Satsuma still had reciprocating steam engines. (Goes to prove i didn't sleep thru' all those lectures at Dartmouth after all!)
