Lancer512
This Mk Vb had an engine problem and has been taken care of by me last June until the mechanic got to us. The first time I pulled a propeller on a Spitfire :D I tought I'ld share this picture of the engine without the cowling: Leaving for it's home base Duxford a couple of days later:

Finish Forty and Home
Just added a few photos of a Mark VIII Spitfire in the collection of the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Texas to my book's Facebook page, here. While at the museum I talked with a staff member who said that an American squadron flew Spitfires, and have since learned it was the 4th Fighter Squadron of the 12th Air Force in North Africa. Would love to see photos of a Spitfire in USAAF colors!

gary1701
Gents, Never seen the Spitfire thread before. Here goes... BBMF MkV in the North African markings of Wg Cdr Ian Gleed. Rougham, 2006, repainted for the 2007 season. BBMF day at Duxford, 2007. The MkII infront of PA474. The Fighter Collections clipped MkV. Historic Aircraft Collections MkV. OFMC MKIX running up at Rougham, 2009. BBMF MKII again, taxiing out from the BBMF hangar at RAF Coningsby... ...followed by the MKIX, in the still current silver Balklans scheme. Lots of Spitfires... MkIVX taxiing in at Duxford. Duxford and MH434 again. This Spitfire was the usual mount of the late Ray Hanna, widely regarded as the finest post war Spitfire display pilot. More to follow soon.
