Hasegawa's 1/48 Weapons Set E (pics)

Recommended Posts

FedEx dropped off a pair of Hasegawa Weapons Set E's at my doorstep direct from Hobby Link Japan to add to my stash. Here's a bunch of pics to drool over.

Box art.

A set of decals and two clear parts sprues...

...you get all this in ONE box. (Not pictured is the poly cap sprue for use on the Litening pods included.)

Two sprues of these...

...and two sprues of these!

WeaponsSet_E_5.jpg

AIM-120C (mislabeled as "Paveway II" in the instruction sheet), AN/ALQ-184, and AN/ALQ-188

The AN/ALQ-184 in this Hasegawa weapons set has slightly more detail than Tamiya's offering (found in their F-16C kits).

WeaponsSet_E_7.jpg

AIM-9X and LAU-127 rails (x8)

You get two GBU-31(V) JDAMs.

Left-hand side HTS pod for Hasegawa F-16s.

Aww gee, I gotta get the left and right eyeball accessory now.

Lol! Don't forget the sleek and sassy butt-portions!!!!!

I think of Hasegawa everytime I see that, LOL ;)

Though seriously, it is a sharp looking kit!

Hi,

Kinda hard to tell from the pictures (as good as they are!), but is the detail in this set better than the detail on the weapons in the various Hasegawa airplane kits? Or are these just more, not bette,r weapons? Thanks for any thoughts.

Huh? Hasegawa includes weapons in their kits? When? Just kidding.

I would have been able to do much closer macro photography but I was using my 18-200mm lens handheld instead of my usual 18-55mm lens (I loaned it to my old man). My cheap-o tripod can't handle the weight of the camera/lens combo I used for the pics, LOL! :) Well, I just compared the AN/ALQ-184 of this new 1/48 Hasegawa weapons set and it has a little more detail than the Tamiya offering found in their F-16C kits. Other than plastic color, you wouldn't be able to tell which one is the Tamiya or the Hasegawa kit. Hasegawa could have added a few more smart iron in the set however. The AIM-120Cs are nice but the instruction set placement guide labels them as AIM-120C Paveway IIs!

Thanks for the info. One additional question. Has anyone ever done a detailed tutorial about how to super-ultra detail missiles or other weapons? Being a newbie, I know it obviously helps to start with a good piece of plastic, but I was curious if anyone has bothered to do a step-by-step documentation of how they super detailed a weapon. What would be really cool would be if it was necessary to add some scratch built details, or how to paint all the tiny bits and pieces. I just remain absolutely floored by how all of you folks build/paint/create the amazing things you do. Sorry if this has been discussed (and I honestly didn't even bother to do a search, being lazy tonight)...

Does this set make it possible to make an F/A-18 missile configuration with two missiles on each pylon? I forget the missile in question but I can see the image in my head.

Yes, yes it does. From the instruction sheet: LAU-115B/A, LAU-127 combo will allow you to mount two AIM-120s on the F/A-18 pylon (For the F/A-18E/F, not sure of the legacy Hornets). Scan of the instruction sheet:

Only has one JDAM in each set? Hasegawa sure does know how to make you buy more than one of these weapon sets! :salute:

Did you watch the video at the top of the thread? It has "Hasegawa" written all over it..... Maybe it'll help you understand their philosophy? :worship:

Actually there are 8 (eight) JDAM in each set!

But only two GBU-31, which I think is what he meant. I like how the AIM's have the molded-in fins. The ones in the Super Hornet kits are kind of fiddly to get glued in right with them all being seperate.

FAIL. :woot.gif: Actually, you get two JDAMs. Here's a pic of what's included.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I saw one GBU-31 on the top box pic so I thought they included only one in the box. PlasticWeapons said he bought two sets which to me accounted for the two seperate sprue pics. Now that I see the side panel pic which tells you how much of each piece comes with the set, it is all clear to me now. :P

No I did not watch the video initially but now that I did, yes it fits Hasegawa's philosophy perfectly. :(

I agree, I bypassed the Hasegawa ones and swiped some Tamiya 9x's from the spares box on my Hasegawa superhornet. I am glad they went one piece in the weapons set!
