Thanks and wish this Floridian luck in the snow Unfortunately, there really aren't any good shops in the immediate Boston area. There is a place called the Hobby Bunker in Malden, but his focus is more on wargaming and toy soldier stuff. He has a limited selection of kits though and every now and then he buys a collection and there is some decent OOP stuff in there.http://www.hobbybunker.com/ 33 Exchange Street Malden, MA 02148 The best shops in the vicinity are Spare Time and Hobby Emporium, both about 35-40 minutes driving from Boston area depending on where you are. Spare Time might be slightly further, but not the way I drive.
Pep
Thanks for the info, hobby bunker was my second choice after spare times, according to my phone spare times is about 2 hours away on train and bus from the intercontinental in boston; do you think the trip is worth it? I only have Friday morning for my litle "adventure" but I'm definatly willing to go for it.

You may be better off heading to Lowell on the commuter rail and taking a taxi up to Hobby Emporium. From North Station, Lowell is about 45 minutes on the train. From the train station in Lowell, Hobby Emporium is probably 25-30 minutes up RT 3 North. It is in the TJ Maxx Plaza on Middlesex Road in Tyngsboro, MA right on the Nashua, NH line. I live about fifteen minutes away from Hobby Emporium, unfortunately I am working tomorrow or I could have met you at the Lowell train station and we could have gone to either shop. For pure kit selection, I think Spare Time has a slight edge and carries some of the less well known overseas brands. Hobby Emporium has a lot of the Revell/Monogram/Academy/Hasegawa/Tamiya/Trumpeter and more mainstream stuff. Spare Time carries those as well as some of the Eastern European/Czech brands etc. It really depends on what your looking for. What is great about Spare Time is he routinely slashes prices on some of his older kit selection and on a good day you can find some stuff in there for 50% off. When I do make the trip to Spare Time, it is usually an expensive one.
Pep
So I ended up just going to hobby hunker one morning since it's all the time I had. Not to much ACs but I spent a good two hours just looking around and killing time while my wife was at her convention. So thanks for the info hopefully i'l be able to visit spare times next trip
RotorheadTX
Visited the Hobby Emporium shop today; freakin' amazing! HIGHLY recommended. Visited Hobby Bunker yesterday; also highly recommended. Tomorrow going to Spare Time, but I've been there before, and I know "They're grrreat!" Gads, I love visiting Boston. RotorheadTX
Also want to throw in a recommendation for Dave's Hobby Shop in Beverly. Surprising selection of plastic, and very good prices. I was expecting the place to be R/C only, so was happy to find a good dose of Italeri and Hasegawa stuff on the shelves. Thanks Dave!

AnthonyWan
That being said, I just moved in about a block away from Hobby Bunker, so if anyone's in town and wants to check it out. Shoot me a PM. -Anthony
