kuya
is the demarcation line between the green and gray supposed to be hard edged or soft edged for an A6M5c zero?
Hal Marshman Sr
From most picds, a very tight soft edge. Note that Mitsubishi and Nakajima zeros had different patterns of separation line. Hal Sr
timc
Unless you're working in 1/24 scale, you'll never see the tight soft edge that Hal mentions. In 1/32 it's even tough to see, it's that tight. In smaller scales (and indeed with the 1/32 scale too) a hard edge demarcation line will not detract from the paint job. In my opinion, a free-handed demarcation line will look very much out of place in the smaller scales (1/48 and 1/72). In 1/32 you may be able to get away with it but it'll have to be really well controlled. HTH Tim
kuya
well the one I'm working on is in 1/48...so I'll just have to go with hard edged then
Grant in West Oz
Only useful if you need to know the manufacturer. Mitsubishi A6Ms had the green run under the tailplane. sometimes it was smooth, others had a wavy line, that was certainly hand sprayed. Nakajima A6Ms green/grey separation in an ARC (like a draped rope) from the wing trailing edge to the tailplane leading edge.
