Hello and WELCOME to ARC..Nice to have you here..

I think it looks okay to ME but the photos are a lttle fuzzy and not so clear ...

I think sometimes the diorama that has less clutter on it is in MY Humble opinion MORE...

From what I can see , your Spitfire Diorama is GOOD ..just a tad fuzzy..

Do you have any more photos of it that you can post...

You did a great job to say it is your first Diorama..

Keep up the good work :(

I think I probably went abit overkill with the furrow but Its a learning curve...B-17 on the airfield next does anybody know where i can get some decent usaf air crew and mechanics (uk preferably)

Thanks guys

The new photos are EXCELLENT..It so much easier and clearer to see the Diorama.

I think you did a FANTASTIC job and the diorama LOOKS STUNNING.

No I think the furrow looks fine...after all they were neglected during the War so it looks fine...

Like the Pilot /figure looking a tad forlorn and wondering what happened LOVE IT..

Keep making them...you are good at it..

i made one along simmilar lines one or two years ago depicting an actual event working from a black and white photo

you have done very well for a first diorama although one thing stands out

crash damage has to be researched to look a little more convincing you are heading in the right direction as yours is modeled well

but there are just box sections at the end of wings were you would be more likeley to see either ripped open or buckled ally sheet i personaly use tinfoil as it can be moddeled well for crash damage

next the cannons are bent upwards i have not researched this but i believe it is very unlikely there would be bending as they would be case hardened thick steel the more likely event would be them either digging into the ground as on mine

or being ripped out by the force from the softer surrounding airframe ally

lastly i'd probably say the trench it has left would probably be a little deep having said that mine may be a little too light marks

but of course a lot depends also on the firmness of the ground there's a lot of difrence between baking summer and wet winter ground

overal a superb first effort at diorama building though

the tinfoil technique involves cutting out a section a little larger than your intended crash damage are

if a wing i would probably make ribs from plasticard then cover with tinfoil disguising at your next available panel lines on the sound area

this will allow you to model ripped , torn and buckled aircraft aluminium sheet

as well as opening the possibility of more convincing cannon/ bullet holes

i am planning a fw 190 crash damage diorama WIP pretty soon so keep your eyes peeled

i am presently waiting as i need to aquire an engine detailing set first as the engine panels will be off as it will be another factual work !!

Nice work guys...good to see a realistic looking crash scene, in real life the aircraft usually plough up the ground as you have shown in yours.

I would only add one thing, normally if a Spitfire crash lands the prop blades break off as they are wooden, they don't bend back. It was a useful feature of the Spitfire meaning that a prop strike was less damaging to the engine. Here's a typical scene;

spitfires used both metal and woden props although as you point out the type of blades on mine would have broken as i fitted the incorrect wooden bladed prop as it was all i could find to resurect an old broken model with sentimental value

the one i modeled it on was an alloy bladed prop spitfire VB therefore the crash site photograph that i modelled from clearly showed a mangled alloy prop
