I guess my top 10 would be the following;

1) Stearman PT-17

2) F4U-1 Corsair ( fell in love with it watching Ba Ba Blacksheep)

3) B-25 Mitchell

4) B-17G Flying Fortress

5) B-26 Maruader

6) F-4 Phantoms

7) Fokker D-VII (Just looks like what a WWI plane should)

8) P-51 Mustangs

9) P-40's

10) F-14 Tomcat ( just a cool looking jet, like the F-4's )

I have a lot more on my list, but the top ten would have to be my favorate all time birds.

Lockheed F-104

Lockheed Connie about the 1049 series

Lockheed P-38

Lockheed P-80A

Macci 202

NAA P-51

Boeing B-47

Boeing B-17

NAA B-25

Martin Mariner

I guess that Lockheed design team had the stuff that appeals to my eye.

Given my list, can't put up much resistence to anyone including the SR-71.

Agree with the statement on the D-VII as WW I apex.

The B-25 makes the list not on looks but rather on the optimum balance of form and function.

A deadly machine in the right places at the right times. If on shape, the Doolittle Curtiss Hawk racer would be there.

A-4 Skyhawks - especially all adversary paint schemes.

F-5E TigerII - see note from above.

F-16 Fighting Falcon

F-4 - Mostly US Navy birds.

F4D Skyray - gotta love its unique shape.

F-18 Hornets - camo birds

A2D Skyshark - thought it was cool as a kid,... still do.

F-107 - Coolest looking jet ever.

F-8 Crusader

F-82 - Twin Mustang, the all-black Night fighters.

OK an all US list, what can I say.
