Ranger74
Darren, The photos I have viewed and the feed chutes that I have handled were basically aluminum and/or steel as such were that color. Jeff
darren
Ok thanx Jeff. I painted the Ammo boxes aluminum, and I'm going to paint the feeds a dark steel as a bit of contrast to the ammo boxes. And the start of today's progress and I've painted the wooden areas of the flight deck and the Navigator/Bomb aimer's position: I've a;so painted the catwalk, and the bomb racks: And would the tail wheel bay be interior green? Or Zinc Chromate? Edited March 2, 2011 by darren
Bigasshammm
Ok thanx Jeff. And would the tail wheel bay be interior green? Or Zinc Chromate? Pretty sure the tail wheel are was left unpainted. Again various differences could be obtained based on block number. I left mine aluminum.
darren
Ok I'm making slow progress on the fort. And I've been working on the rear gunner's position: Edited March 6, 2011 by darren
darren
Ok so kicking off today's progress, and I've started work on the pilot's and co-pilots seats. I know the seat backs were Yellow, but didn't know about the seat so I painted them OD: I've still got to do some tidying up on the seats. Bigasshammm
Ok so kicking off today's progress, and I've started work on the pilot's and co-pilots seats. I know the seat backs were Yellow, but didn't know about the seat so I painted them OD: I've still got to do some tidying up on the seats. Seats have been debated so how do you know they were yellow? I know that had flotation devices but were they always carried?
darren
I don't know they were Yellow. But I like the splash of colour on the flight deck. It breaks up the Green and Brown. Edited March 3, 2011 by darren
darren
Ok not much progress today as I'm not feeling well. But, I did manage to add the nav's and bomb aimer's seats in the relative position: Edited March 3, 2011 by darren
Bigasshammm
Darren... rushing to be the first one done! Who will it be as it's coming down to the wire of a completed Fort! Nice progress keep it up.
darren
Nope not rushing at all. Taking my time as always. Just making slower progress than I have been is all.
darren
I have a question. The bulkheads either side of the bomb bay. The doors should they be solid as in the kit? Or should they be glazed?
B-17 guy
You mean the man doors to go through the bombay to the radio room? If so they would be simple plywood doors.
darren
Ok some progress for today. And I've installed the nav's position to the bulkhead: I also installed the IP: Now Revell only give you one decal for the seat on the flight decal, but IIRC it should have a decal on both seats: I've installed the receivers and transmitters on the radio room bulkhead: And Revell also provide a nice bomb sight. (Something which I'd wish they'd done with their Lanc). I also started on the Radio room floor: So that's it for tonight. More tomorrow (hopefully)
PGB
Coming along nicely. Revell only give you one decal for the seat on the flight decal, but IIRC it should have a decal on both seats There are two US AIR CORPS decals on the sheet, one by the 909 nose art and the other further down. All the best, PB
darren
Ok thanx PB. I didn't notice it. I'll have a search for it and apply it.
Kostucha
Darren, Looking good! Definitely some progress coming along quickly. Can't wait to see more! Cheers, Mark.
darren
After PB's post about the second decal for the other flight deck seat I've applied that. And this afternoon I did some work on the wings. Now I'm not a stickler for accuracy (shock horror). So I painted what I guess are fuel tanks Black with silver strapping: Edited March 5, 2011 by darren
100th BG
Actually, those are oil tanks. Each engine had 37 gallons of oil. Yes, 37 GALLONS! Those big radials like oil... Edited March 5, 2011 by 100th BG
darren
Ok Karl. Sorry oil tanks, and I like the way look in Black and Silver, not strictly accurate but I like em.
100th BG
Hey Darren, they are fine painted that way as they were self-sealing just like the fuel tanks. That's exactly how I painted mine ; ) !!
