Darren Roberts
I'm building a 1/48 squadron history for their squadron space, so I'm just getting into the research aspect. I've got some pictures of their F4U's. They were in overall GSB with a C tail code. I'm going to have my friend who's in the squadron go through their history books and see if there are any other pictures. The early Phantoms shouldn't be too hard to find. I believe they had a diagonal red stripe running from just in front of the nozzles up towards the canopies and meeting on the spine. It was further back then what you usually see on Phantoms. The tail had a large black spade with the airwing code in the middle. I can't recall offhand what code it was. Edited March 2, 2011 by Darren Roberts
Rex
the code was a stylized AG for air wing 7 on the Independence, until they moved to CVW-6 on the Roosevelt, then it was AE
