Hopefully, this isn't a repost, or something most of you have already seen, if so, I'm sorry, but I thought it'd be worth posting. Aircraft in the service of the rebel Transitional National Council have been observed in the skies over Libya, engaging planes and ground forces of the Gadaffy-loyalist Libyan Jamihiriya Air Force. All aerial activity is in violation of the UN Security Council's no-fly zone. Aircraft of the latter force have been downed when encountered by NATO, Qatari and UAE fliers, or destroyed on the ground, but rebel planes are escorted back to their bases and left in peace.

As you can see, the rebels have adopted the old royalist flag as their own, and their planes use this as a fin flash. But the old monarchist roundel, with concentric circles of red, black and green, hasn't been reintroduced; instead, a new roundel, divided into horizontal bands like the flag, with a white crescent and star in the center, has been adopted.

Well, I can now mention my involvement in Operations Odyssey Dawn & Unified Protector. We flew 7 missions in total, including lead tanker for the B-2 strike mission on night 1. It was amazing how quickly the pieces came together and how many nations participated. I was fortunate enough to work with British GR4s, USAFE F-15E, F-16CJ/M, A-10Cs plus F-16s from the UAE, Denmark, and Norway.

What started out as standard 1 week Coronet movement, ended up allowing us to be part of aviation history. Having been too young for "Eldorado Canyon", this was a proud moment.

Now to enjoy some time off at home with my family.

Jeff, that is great that you got to be part of history. I just got the new issue of Combat Aircraft Monthly and it is full with photos you took during your involvement including the cover shot. Congradulations and keep up the great work.

Thanks Ron. I haven't seen the new issue of CA yet, so you were the first to break the news to me. Wow...

Jeff

Took a moment for the penny to drop for me, but `WOW` indeed. Superb work!

It was the quality and multi-national subject matter that took me right to the check-out, CA in hand.

I skipped lunch that day as a result (I`ll live).

Overall, I think one of the best CA for a while due to wide subject matter, as well as Libyan coverage.

Lovely work Jeff, nice one!

Cheers, Ian

Tanker Action:

CAF Tanker

Some nice Tornado footage.

That is about the most cool Aerial Texaco vid I've seen.....it has some stop-n-go, but still very, very cool..Thanx very much. That Rafale driver looked as if he was sucking fumes and had to get to the drogue ASAP. As for the Colonel, he's sleeping with both eyes open well that is if he's sleeping at all, well wait he can't do that so he's alternating which eye is open, with both going during shift change  . Yup they're bringing out the big stuff..that looked all the world to me like a possibly a GBU-24 on that Canuck Bug, but the camera being that close could have guessing wrong.
