Eli Raphael
Black or insignia blue? Thanks
oortiz10
Eli, According to a document titled "Exterior Finishes, Insignia & Markings Applicable To USAF Aircraft" that I have access to, the color is Insignia Blue (FS 15044) when used on gray or white surfaces. Gloss Black (17038) may be used as a substitute. See section 3.3: Hope this helps. Cheers, -O

UKPonchoMan
I believe (from memory!) - Insignia Blue fuselage codes and wing "USAF", and black tail and radio nos.
wh1skea
Oortiz, which edition of TO 1-1-4 is that?
Jennings
I think the *actual* answer is, they might be blue, or they might be black. The upshot of that is, in a B&W photo nobody is going to be able to say for sure, so either way you go isn't wrong. J Edited March 30, 2011 by Jennings
