gkicsak
All, As promised, made some more progress on the Hawk. I can't believe I have made this much this week. Usually the build takes a lot longer. Here is my progress: I have a bit more sanding to do. It is coming together quite well and I'm really enjoying this build. Can't wait to get to the painting stage. Back to do some more... Cheers, Gabe Edited April 7, 2011 by gkicsak

gkicsak
Denzil / Holmes, Thanks for the encouragement. Still sanding down a few areas as I'm still not completely happy with it yet. I have a course on this weekend which will slow me down as bit. I'll try to squeeze some time in where I can. Thanks again. More building to be done. gkicsak
Hi All, I'm planning to get more done this week as I've been away on a course over the weekend. I've cleaned up a few parts last night to get ready for painting. Need to mask the canopy tonight and glue on tonight in preparation for inside colour of canopy and then some primer. I'm planning on using some Vallejo white primer that's acrylic for the first time through an airbrush. Hopefully this will be good as the spray can stuff is becoming expensive over time. James will do some photography for me as well so I can post some progress. Until then... Cheers, Gabe
gkicsak
Hi All, James has done some photography for me. Here is the progress so far. I have to mask up the canopy as mentioned in the previous post. All that has been added is some aerials, some filling and sanding. All is still going well. Cheers, Gabe :D Edited April 11, 2011 by gkicsak

gkicsak
Coming along nicely....I checked mine and found the wing warp..and wonder you have any issue with warpage... Masterqq, There was no warpage at all. I must be lucky then. All is going together well. I should make it to the modeling desk tonight. Cheers, Gabe
gkicsak
Hi All, Here is a few progress shots from today. Firstly, airbrushed canopy frames black then used Vallejo White Primer (for the first time). I can say the primer airbrushed quite well without thinning. Only needs a light sand when it dries before I pre-shade and get the colours down. Progress shots: I'll post more as I go along. Thanks for looking again. Cheers, Gabe
madmike
Gabe Looking good mate, excellent work
gkicsak
Hi All, Thanks Mike for the comments. I'm pushing through this build. Progress: Did some pre-shading and base colour is down. I'll let it dry and put the second colour down tomorrow. More progress shots to come. Cheers, Gabe Edited April 15, 2011 by gkicsak
madmike
Gabe This is a fast build. I could never knock out a 1:48 kit that quick (though I did build the Lindberg Pogo convertiplane in 24 hours, but that does NOT compare!) Looking good! I got the base OD on my DUKW laid down but not before my old Testors single action exploded and my Aztek refusing to work. t\Thank God for my Sparmax!
gkicsak
Hi All, Got the second colour down tonight. I'm on a bit of a roll with some of my spare time (the little I have of it). I might touch up some areas with the base colour again to tighten up the camouflage. The camouflage was also done freehand and building it up slowly. Anyway, here are some shots: I'll keep updating as I go. Cheers, Gabe
DDC
Nice work Gabe! She's coming along a treat Denzil
gkicsak
Hi All, Quick update: No time at the modelling desk this week as it has been the week from hell. I've been at schools for Anzac Day Ceremonies, preparing for the upcoming weekend commitments and on top of that, going to funerals. Must be that time of year when people start falling off their perch. I hate funerals. As it is good Friday tomorrow and my only day off, I can get to the modelling desk and finally do some decaling. I've just had a look at the common data decals that needs to be put down and there is a lot of them. It will be at least a few hours work. Hopefully will post tomorrow nights progress. Cheers, Gabe
