Wanted to depict an aircraft that has just returned late from a mission.

I've always loved this particular 2-tone scheme.

Details:

Ultracast Rudder/Elevators

True Details Wheels/Tires

Figures were from various kits and the ole parts bin

Planking made of wooden stir sticks

Base was cut to fit into simple picture frame

Hope you enjoy the pics.

50gal drums were made of brass pipe and styrene. (I can never keep the 2-piece plastic ones round after sanding out the seams!)

Cut the door open on the staff car and turned the front wheels.

Workbench was made of balsa a long time ago for another diorama that was scrapped. Can't remember where the photo-etch tools came form originally.

The cups were made of aluminum tubing flared with needle-nose pliers. Fire extinguisher was made from the tip of a Sparrow missile with details added.

Spare tanks were painted with AlcladII. (one in chrome and the other in dark aluminum.

Steve,

I think that if this was in a Contest, it would WIN hands down for the BEST,

IMPRESSIVE diorama ever..

It is EXQUISITE...I love the smaller details on the base too, the

Car and the figures are STUNNINGLY OUTSTANDING.

I particulalry love the grainy, gravely, unkempt base..

Nice use of the stir sticks...They work SO well too.
