Hello Phillyb,

Belchers Bits makes the Dumbo radome and Leigh Light for the British ASW B-24. From what I have read it is a very nice conversion to work with.

For the British B-24 Aviaeology makes a nice set of decals

For the US ASW B-24 Illiad Design makes decals.

Hope this helps!!

Unfortunately, all that aftermarket is for the B-24D (or Liberator GR V in the RAF/RCAF).

I'm not too familiar with the USAAF using B-24Js for ASW patrolling, but the USN used the Privateer (both the PB4Y-1 and -2).

Koster has a conversion for both, but I'm not too sure of the availibility and decals are hard to find for these.

If you decide to build a British or Canadian Liberator GR VI, I have a reference book on the Canadian ones and can send you scans of photos.

(the British Libs were pretty much identical)

The Aviaeology decals would be a good starting point, but you'd need new serial numbers as they only cover a handful of Canadian GR V's. (not GR VI's)

There's also this option if you want to build an Czech-operated RAF Coastal Command Liberator: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/REV4800

Good luck on your project!

The USN took over ASW duties from the USAAF in August of 1943, so there were no AAF J's used in that role. Any that there were were converted to PB4Y-1s. Here's the piece I did on HS a couple of years ago that has some more info..
