Craig Maternowski
Hello All, Just a quick question. I'm building Roden's Antonov An-12 PPK Cub-C (the electronic reconnaissance version). The instructions call for Humbrol 128 U.S. Compass Grey for the fuselage and wings but I was wondering if a Light Ghost Grey would be a little closer. Any thoughts? Thanks. Balls Buster
From what I recall of seeing many military An-12s (not the BK-PPS though) the gray on them is darker than the US Light Ghost Grey). I believe Hu128 is a good call and closer to reality.
Kons74
Dark Ghost Grey is not too dark to me, but it's definitely too blue for Soviet transport aircrafts. I would suggest using some of British colours - Medium Sea Grey or Camouflage Grey (Hu165, Hu167) or some mix of them. Edited April 26, 2011 by Kons74
Flankerman
The density and shade of grey varies so much, I would not be too pedantic over what grey to use.... I photographed these two at Ivanovo-Severnyi in 2005... 'Standard' An-12.... An-12PPS.... Immaculate An-12BK at Chkalovsaya in 2007.... An-12PP at the same base.... An-12 at Tver in 2007... Take any grey........ Ken
