ricardo72
Hi folks and good day for everyone!!!! the f-100 whats it`s the best?, italeri or Trumpeter? the panels on both are inside or outside? thanks for your aswers
Andre
Italeri, apart from the superfluous cockpit frame. Yes, the newer Trumpy kit has seperate slats. But shape- and accuracywise, the Esci/Italeri blows it out of the water IMHO. Cheers, Andre Edited May 20, 2011 by Andre
DonSS3
1/72 or 1/48?
ricardo72
1/72 SORRY!!!!
JasonW
1/72 or 1/48? That was my question as well. I assume Andre is talking 1/72, but not sure about Ricardo (although the 72 in his ricardo72 member screen name might be a giveaway...).
MiG31
Did Italeri ever produce a 1:48 F-100 kit?
KursadA
Did Italeri ever produce a 1:48 F-100 kit? No, but Esci did, and it is best forgotten.
Andre
That was my question as well. I assume Andre is talking 1/72, but not sure about Ricardo (although the 72 in his ricardo72 member screen name might be a giveaway...). That, and, like KursadA said, at the moment Italeri don't have an 1/48th scale Hun in their lineup. Esci's quarterscale F-100 is, eh, not one of their best effort (as in "Lincolns assassination wasn't one of the most enjoyable evenings of theathre for him"). Cheers, Andre
ChippyWho
The Italeri and ESCI F-100s (1/72) are not quite identical, but are both sublime. They lack an intake duct, but that can be fixed or FOD-ed depending on your commitment. Seriously recommend Aires 'pit + wheelbays AND the Eduard jewellery at minimum, but I'm an old aftermarket groupie. Panel lines are nicely engraved.
F4DPhantomII
Geez I hope Italeri does not decide to re-release the Esci 1/48 kit like they did with other Esci kits.
JackMan
What about the 2-seater F-100F in 1/72? Is the Italeri one better than the Trumpeter? I might do a MISTY or a Wild Weasel bird in the future. Thanks in advance.
Andre
What about the 2-seater F-100F in 1/72? Is the Italeri one better than the Trumpeter? If by "better" you mean "more accurate": yes. Cheers, Andre
JackMan
Thanks Andre. The only Hun I own is the Trump F-100C and that too was just an impulse buy when it was on sale and so I didn't do too much research into the aircraft. To me the Trump fuselage (esp the middle part) looks "fatter" than the ESCI/AMT/ERT/Italeri/Tamiya F-100C/D/F I've also heard some rumblings about the Trumpeter's fin but it's the "fat" fuselage that just doesn't look right to me. I do like the rivet details & the pose-able slats though. But since I'm going to be making an inflight MISTY F-100F anyway, the slats won't matter to me. I think I'll just go for the Italeri F ( as soon as I find someone who's willing to sell/trade me the Misty decal option from the Wolfpak decal sheet) http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Rev2/1901-2000/rev1906-Wolfpak72002/00.shtm Edited August 8, 2011 by JackMan
zipplex
Hi Jackman If you want dropped slats on the esci/italei F-100D/F you could always use these http://obscureco.com/product_pages/OBS72013/OBS72013.html or if you want to convert the D into a C http://obscureco.com/product_pages/OBS72012/OBS72012.html Simon
ChippyWho
Nice one zipplex -didn't know about the Obscureco bits! OK, I'm unarmed; I'm reaching for my wallet...
JackMan
Thanks Simon but my F-100F will likely be an inflight bird so I don't think I'll be dropping the slats. The Obscureco ones do look cool though. Mighty tempting
Ben Brown
Build it doing a hard bank, so you can have it in flight, with the slats out. B) Ben
JackMan
Build it doing a hard bank, so you can have it in flight, with the slats out. B) Ben Heyyyy, that's an awesome idea! My initial plan was to build one that looked like the one from the cover of the MISTY's book "Bury Us Upside Down" but while making a slight bank looking for enemy activity down below ( why the bookcover shows a C/D instead of an F is beyond me) http://i43.tower.com/images/mm102148058/bury-us-upside-down-misty-pilots-secret-battle-don-shepperd-paperback-cover-art.jpg http://www.amazon.com/Bury-Us-Upside-Down-Pilots/dp/0345465377 I wanted to build ex-MISTY pilot Ed Risinger's last flight 56-3837: http://www.mistyvietnam.com/afmus_f100f.html because I found his story inspiring. He came from a obscure childhood & worked his way through college and all those ******** Air Force engineering degree courses and after his stint with the air force, he went through grueling medical school & is now a doctor. He just never lost touch with his goals even while in a combat zone. Your idea is a good one Ben. I might just do it (altho' it's on my long term to-do plan since I'm currently working on other projects right now) :D
