I'm working on a couple Wingnuts gems and some of the support rigging is flat - not round - wire. Does anybody really do that? and where the heck do I purchase that? I think the measurement is about .03mm x .015mm. I'm finding the biggest challenge with Wingnuts kits is - I"M NOT WORTHY!

The airfoil shaped "flat" wire used by the English was called RAF wire. I think someone makes a PE set with the appropriat items for the Wingnuts kits. Sorry I only build the German stuff so I don't have to deal with RAF wire.

On a 1/72 build I had to replace an antenna which has snapped in three and which I couldn't glue well enough. The problem was that it has an airfoil cross section, and try as I may, I couldn't carve it to the right shape.

Long story short: I took a piece of sprue, whittled it to the airfoil shape and then stretched it. Voila, perfect antenna.

I'm sure you could do the same with your rigging wires.

Has anyone tried "beading needles?" They look like stiff, twisted wire to me and they may work for rigging in 1/32nd scale. I think they come in different gauges, so there may be something that will work for 1/48th scale as well. I've seen them in Hobby Lobby and other craft stores, but haven't picked any up yet.
