stevehnz
Thanks for the comments guys. Steve, what would you like to see? I did post some other pictures in the completed builds thread. If you would like I can take some more pictures and put them up here. Just let me know. -Dave Hi Dave, sorry not to have acknowledged this, I hadn't seen the pics in the completed builds thread for yours & Robs shark mouth Typhoon. I'd like to have seen some closer pics of the mouth decals but the ones on Robs show how they go OK. How did you find them for ease of application? Steve.
blunce
Think I left some comments in the completed builds page, but just caught up with the last part of the build. REALLY came out great. Good save on the mouth decals. Seems there's been a rash of decal troubles plaguing the participants of this build. Great job!
2qwik4u
Thanks again guys. Grenadier37, don't forget, I'm still working on the P-40, you may still need to use the hose... Steve - Decals, at first they were a bit of a pain. The red background decal, which is separate, didn't want to lay down at all, and shattered as I tried to get it in place. Microset/sol didn't seem to affect them at all. I ended up tracing the outline of the teeth decals onto some Tamiya tape, masking and spraying (see above). It wasn't too difficult and I think it came out better anyway. I think these decals were originally sized for a 1/48th scale kit, and then just shrunk down the appropriate amount for 72nd. Looking at Robs 1/48th build, his Tiffy seems to have a little wider mouth than my 72nd kit. I ended up having to cut a couple teeth off to get them to fit right. The biggest thing I discovered with these decals is that they need HOT water, basically as hot as my tap would get it, and then they still needed some heating with a lightbulb to get them to soften up. Also, make sure you get them where you want them before they come off the paper. Use a large puddle of water to get them in place, because mine liked to cling to the surface rather quickly (see disscusion above regarding the fin flash). If you'd like I can still get some shots of the nose. Let me know. -Dave

It just might tempt me to try one of these myself sometime, previously I'd have been far to apprehensive. Steve.
