Guatemalan P-51D

Or just as easily black. Most post-war US Mustangs got black cockpits during depot overhauls. The FMS birds would have gone through depot before going overseas, so black is as likely as green.

Interior Green.

Black was applied in 1950 to USAF F-51's, I don't remember it being applied to Mustangs serving in foreign air forces.

In their book "North American F-51's in Latin American Air Force Service" John Dienst and Dan Hagedorn have pictures of FAG Mustangs bought by Connie Edwards in the early 70's, their cockpits are Interior green.

That's true, but I think it depends when you're talking and where they were overhauled. There was no rule that said "USAF = black, foreign = green" (that I've ever heard of), so I think one is just as likely as the other depending on when & where.

I have never seen a black cockpit on a non USAF Mustang but every cockpit on a foreign F-51 I've seen (plenty) was IG.

This includes color pictures of FAG Mustangs.

This is not an absolute fact of course, but all the evidence points to IG.

Not sure about guatemalans but Dominicans where green with the wood floor coverd in black laquer paint. This was applied at the Cavalier facilities, I think guatemalans where cavalier mustangs as well, what year is the A/C your going for?

All told the Dominicans flew close to 50 Mustangs , only one or two of these were Cavaliers.

The Cavalier cockpits were light gray, almost white.

The NAA built cockpits were interior green.

Sorry I think were hijacking the thread, even though only a couple of the mustangs where "cavaliers" the mustang fleet was refit by cavalier at some point, they actualy payed for it with p-51s if I recall.

My info could be wrong it's been a long time since I talked to the guys back home. But I can still say it's green with black flooring :)

Hi Julian

Regarding your question a fellow friend from IPMS Guatemala, just confirm me that interior green FS34151 is the right choice

You can also look at Facebook Fuerza Aerea Guatemalteca and ask for Photos

Best modelling
