kozlok
The QF-4's have a large, box shaped object (an antenna?) on the spine, just in front of the tail. Does anyone have close ups of the box? Better yet, does anyone make one in resin? http://images2.jetphotos.net/img/2/3/6/2/63889_1134125263.jpg Edited August 8, 2011 by madmike
thegoodsgt
I seemed to recall seeing photos online but couldn't recall where. I Googled QF-4E walkaround and found these two sites that might be helpful. http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/qf-4_home.htm http://motty.hobbyvista.com/Phantoms/Duanes-Phantoms-01.html There may be a couple of more with further searching. Also, I think Jake Melampy's book on the F-4 has photos.
jmel
Also, I think Jake Melampy's book on the F-4 has photos. It does. Taken from on top of the spine looking down. The Modern Phantom Guide I'm not aware of one in resin, but it's a pretty simple shape. Maybe some plastic built up and contoured would work? Or maybe some scrap resin casting blocks sanded to suit? kozlok
How's this look? I layered a few sheets of thick plastic, sanded and puttied to blend. It's not perfect, but about the best my sculpting skill allows for. The antennas are all borrowed. One from an A-4, one from a Super Hornet. I dremeled the bottom out to minimize sanding, then sanded it with a sheet of sandpaper on the Phantom's spine to shape. Edited August 14, 2011 by kozlok
Netz
Now you just need to sand the leading and trailing edges to a tapered point, like a boat, the front is a bit more blunt that the trailing end. Like this. Curt
