Hello everybody

This is the project i was dreaming for a long time. I was looking for Italeri kit for a long time without any luck and when i found C-130H today at Avon show i couldn't resist anymore.

I want to build "U" version, however "H" is tempting too. As both are equally hard to scratchbuild and i am starting my work tommorrow maybe you lads can help me decide.

This will be the biggest model i have ever build, i can wait to get my teeth into it :)

Ok...this boxart has me stumped. It clearly has the scoop on the right sponson. This is an accurate picture for an H. But the kit does not include this scoop. Right?? If Italeri did not include this scoop in the kit...but did on the boxart...then this is really tacky.

Thoughts?

Man....what a great project. Can't wait to see more!

Nothing new, unfortunately - Italeri's 1/72nd AC-130A kit has SUU-42's on the box art, but these are nowhere to be found in the box.

Cheers,

Andre

Hello

I managed to push it project forward and did some work on 25mm gatling nest, bofors nest and wind deflector for 105mm (at least that is what i think it is).

Slow, but usually patience is not my strong point, so maybe this time i can built show stopper.

Hello everybody.

i want to report small progress. I had to re-work howitzer nest, as after careful re-examination i came to a conclusion that it is to small. Not a big job, but put me back 1/2 day.

Than i turn to other side, not much of scratchbuilding over there.

I cut a hole for a observer window (at least this is my interpretation of it) and made that little mounting point for sensors.

At this point i must apologize for a missinformation. PMINER asked me if there is a "scoop" included in the kit as it is on the boxart and to my best knowledge than i said no, however there is, it just fell of from sprue when i was looking for it at first and found it later.

Hello everybody

It has been another month, i haven't done as much as i was hoping (mainly to job commitments and stress) but few things are done.

I put two halfs of fuselage together and srachbuild/sculpt two pods in the back of fuselage.

I also bought excellent set of decals from Wolfpack Decals.

Outstanding work. You are nailing the details.

Before you get too far along, they've mod'd the FLIR ball mount a bit to make it more aerodynamic. See this photo:

I saw it in person a few times and it really bulks up that front pylon.

Hello

thanks lads, glad you all like it.

I've made that Flir mount from evergreen square profiles and than filled edges with putty, that is why maybe it looks a bit squareish . I will have to wait to prime it and than make any corrections as at this moment is hard to judge.

I will post few pictures with progress later on. i've made front sensor mount and decided to stay with early not so aerodynamic version.

I have decals for "Maximum carnage" AC-130 and it is definately early version on the pictures i have.

I also decided to make full advantage of the size of this beast and i will open flaps and change position of horizontal stabilizers (i hope that is you call this part of plane).

Stay tuned more soon.

Holy smokes, the note book is out and taking notes. Your doing some good stuff here my friend. I would love to build one of these but find this kit is becoming pain in the butt. But, I like your alternative ;)

Adam, any updates my friend!!

Hello

There is progress, however not massive.

I have done all the flaps, 40 mm gatling from brass tubes (that was pain), 105mm from evergreen tubes and bofors from flak 18 barrel (same caliber - almost - and same barrel lenght ).

Concept has change a bit and it will be "in-flight" display, rather than stationery.

I will *** some pictures, once assembly of the wings is done, as it is a bit tricky now to carry it up and down the stairs.

Thanks for interest i will keep updating asap.

Hello

I must admit that this project is taking me longer than i thought it would be.

However i am nearly at the end of assembly part. All i got left is underwing probe and few antennas.

I really hope that after primer there want be to many mistakes to fix as painting this beast will be another story.

I better get going as thanks to one member of my club i have now 1:48 scale B-1B to finish, and that is a gigantic kit.

Anyway enough talking, pictures:
