Orion Field
I am trying (practically scrambling) to complete my blue angels history for a model show on Oct 16th, and I decieded at the last minute to do the support aircraft as well. I plan to do the same with the thunderbirds, but the need for them is not as immediate. I want to build Fat Albert, and I already have C-130 for it, I just need decals, so If anyone know where to find those, I would be a very happy camper. I also want to do the C-121 and C-54. I know the blue angels C-121 decals are out there somewhere, but I'm not sure about the C-54 as its not a very popular model. Any help would be great. Oh yeah, all the models are in 1/72 As far as the thunderbirds go, I would need a C-54, C-119 and C-123 Right? and a Nellis AFB C-130... so if you could point me in the direction of decals for those, that would be great! Jennings
As far as the thunderbirds go, I would need a C-54, C-119 and C-123 Right? and a Nellis AFB C-130... so if you could point me in the direction of decals for those, that would be great! Methinks you're out of luck on all of those... If we had a decent C-54 kit (HELLO REVELL!!?!?!?!) that would sell like hotcakes, I'd be all over it in a minute. I've actually got most of the C-119 artwork done, but I quit on it years ago because upon further reflection, I doubt the entire world wide market for them would be more than about 50 sheets, if even that many. 2qwik4u
Hey Orion, I think I can help you out with a couple of your Blue Angels sheets. I have the Italeri BA C-130 kit, and I have the SuperScale sheet so that I can do up the bird that I got a ride on. You are welcome to the kit decals if you like. They are rolled a bit from being in the box, and they could probably stand to have a coat or three of clear put over them, but you can't beat the price! Also, I picked up a sheet for the C-121 about a month ago. Its an old ScaleMaster sheet that I picked up off of EvilBay. The buyers name is gwdecals, but he also sells them off of his website, which is here. If you are interested in the Fat Albert sheet, send me a PM with your address and I'll send it to you. -Dave
2qwik4u
Oh yeah, the C-121 kit you need is the Heller EC-121 Warning Star, with some mods of course. -Dave

Thunderbird 14 was also a C-141 for several years. I think that they have also used a C-17 at times, especially for overseas trips. Darwin

Scale Master did a set of Blue Angels markings for the C-130 years ago, you might get lucky and find a set on eBay. If you plan on doing any of the T-33 hack a/c, Superscale did a sheet for the Thunderbirds and both Heller and Hasegawa did a T-33 boxing. A company called Pro Scale Models did 2 reboxings of Heller's T-33 kits and each boxing included markings for a Blue Angels and Thunderbords T-33. HTH.
Ham
Back in the 1970's, Replica in Scale magazine did a fine article on Thunderbirds aircraft up to that time. I have that article and will be glad to send it to if you PM me an email address. It has 1/72 scale drawings of the C-54, C-119, and C-123 Thunderbirds markings. Would look really sweet on any of those birds. Good luck with your project. Also, if you are not aware of it, you need to come over to the dark side, and join the 1/72 modelers on 72nd Scale Aircraft
