Ken Middleton
Anyone know what the font used for DT and the squadron in this pic? http://www.air-and-space.com/20031018%20Miramar/PICT0051%20FA-18D%20164652%20VMFAAW242%2001%20right%20rear%20tail%20l.jpg I have searched for fonts using Gothic, vampire, medieval, horror etc, but cannot find anything similar. thanks in advance. loki
I doubt that it is any recognised font. Much more likely to be artistic take on lettering.
twobobs
Call thecsquadron dude. They'll tell ya!
Jennings
Probably laid up with masking tape and sprayed on, so not a font. Just a style of letters.
Ken Middleton
thanks guys Call thecsquadron dude. They'll tell ya! Hmm, I can imagine the person on the other end of the phone LOL Probably laid up with masking tape and sprayed on, so not a font. Just a style of letters. so on the decal sheets, someone would have to create the letters/numbers individually?
KursadA
so on the decal sheets, someone would have to create the letters/numbers individually? Exactly. Usually a similar font is used as the base, and the characters are modified one by one. Imagine the fun when the text is in an unfamiliar script like Korean or Thai and does not look like any font you can find.
Dndieje
Looks like they just modified the standard markings: http://www.modelwereld.eu/catalog/images/medium/F.A-18D%20NIGHT%20ATTACK%201;48%20Hasegawa%20decals.jpg You could maybe use the Hasegawa ones as a master. Jennings
so on the decal sheets, someone would have to create the letters/numbers individually? I do that about 99% of the time anyway. Modifying fonts usually takes me longer than just drawing the stuff from scratch. And if I do it myself, I *know* it's correct. :)
Dndieje
If you need those Hasegawa DT markings send me a PM. I only intend to use some of the stencils anyway.

I was thinking about doing a different billboard jet of theirs, where the lettering is all black, without the yellow shadows.
