Bf-109G-6

Recommended Posts

Hello---I have 2 Bf-109G-6's I want to finish up. The first one

is 1/48 Fujimi with Hartman's winter white decals, came in the

Super Ace "Hartmann" boxing but I am replacing the Fujimi decals

with better quality Eagle Cals same scheme winter white. The plane

I am having trouble with is the Otaki 1/48 G-6. I found a really

interesting scheme, JG-300 overall RLM 76 and squiggles on the top

side and black on the bottom side. Eagle Cal makes them but so far

I have only found them in 1/72. Any one know who sells them in 1/48

on line? Also I need a reference picture to scratch build a battery

box protruding through the bulkhead on Hartmann's G-6. Yes I do know

some sources say it's a G-14.The Fujimi kit is far superior with details

and dropped flaps and slats, but is a pain because you have to delete

all the scribed lines that belong to other variants, sorta "one size fits all"

deal. Here's pics of where I am at.----John

John,

I'm assuming you're referring to "Yellow 1" of 3./JG 300 flown by Manfred Dieterle. Since there no are unit insignias on this plane all you should have to do is just locate a yellow "1" with no outline, should be relatively easy since this was a common fuselage number, good chance that you could get a freebie from someone's spares box. The yellow spinner spiral can be done with a home made or Eduard mask:

Alternatively you could have Ad Astra do a custom set of masks for you, I've heard good things about their products:

I don't have any good photos of the battery box on my library but you can Google the Eagle Editions part and use that as a guide since their stuff is pretty darn accurate.

I found a picture of an aftermarket part so I eyeballed it

and got some dimensions with my trusty Starrett 6" scale

and cut pieces out of .015" Evergreen styrene sheet. Now to

finish sanding and glue it to my Fujimi's rear bulkhead.---John
