TheFlyingDutchman
Hello, I'm planning to build the N106US, the US Airways A320 that successfully ditched on the Hudson in 2009. Does anyone know where I can get decals for US Airways new colour scheme for the A320 (1:144)? Decals for the A319 are also fine, I can do small registrations etc. by myself. Thanks in advance :)
Fly-n-hi
You mean this decal set? My link There was an email address at the bottom of the decal sheet. Maybe you could write to the company and see when they will ship more decals out. FYI, this decal set is showing the incorrect engines although it won't make much difference. TheFlyingDutchman
That's a useful one, thanks :) And the engines do not matter indeed, as my model won't have engines at all
Cubs2jets
Technically, you will need to have the right engine installed. Only the left engine departed the airframe in the landing. Depending on how soon after the landing you are thinking of modeling, the outer wing panels were above water level showing the deployed slats. It took some time for the aircraft to take on water (due to ruptured aft pressure bulkhead)and the slow loss of bouyancy due to the leaking of the fuel load. Only the four overwing exits and the two forward doors were opened during the evacuation. Cubs2jets Edited October 2, 2011 by Cubs2jets
TheFlyingDutchman
I would like to make a diorama with the A320 in the Hudson and all passengers standing on the wings, maybe with the first ferry that arrived at the scene built from scratch. I already cut the model diagonally (it was already partially built, got it from a friend but did not like his building skills) and opened up the overwing and forward exits. On pictures that I've found the wings appear to be slightly under water (only a few centimeters with the passengers standing on it getting wet feet) so I assumed the engines won't be visible at all, no matter they were still on the wing or not? If you have any more info on this? :)
