Mark737Whit
I want to put this alq-131 pod on the centerline of my F-16C, but Hasegawa Aircraft Weapons Kit B doesn't include a rack to store it on. I have an extra rack for the 300 gal fuel tank, or an extra aaq-14 rack (shorter one). Would either of those be passable? What else have you used instead. I saw some examples in the ARC galleries where it looks like the pod was just attached to the centerline without a rack...not a fan. Thanks!! thegoodsgt
Barring an out-of-the-box solution, I would simply scratchbuild one. Based on the two photos below, it appears to be very narrow and looks like it would take all of 15 minutes to create. I've done this a few times and found it to be very easy. http://www.es.northropgrumman.com/solutions/alq131/assets/alq131.jpg http://www.vipersinthestorm.com/assets/images/ALQ-131_Podt.JPG
geedubelyer
Hi Mark, I'm guessing you're building 1/48th or 1/72nd scale? The pylon for the pod is shallower than the fuel tank pylon to allow clearance. It's easy to scratch build with a short length of rectangular plastic stock. This image sugests how you could do it: (Ignore the reference to etched metal in the picture, this was an illustration for the 1/32nd scale Fligtpath offering) HTH and good luck. ;) Edited November 4, 2011 by geedubelyer
strikeeagle801
If you are talking about 1/48, the Tamiya F-16 has the pylon for the AN/ALQ-131 in the parts marked Not for Use. You could try and find someone willing to give you one in the Buy/Sell section. Aaron
