Scott R Wilson
Does anyone make a "nose cover/protector" for 1:48 AIM-9X? With or without RBF flags? I don't know the answer to your question, but I did note you seemed not too sure what to call them. The vernacular may have changed, but back 25 years ago when I worked on F-4s we called them "dome covers", fwiw. Could be it's still the same. Good luck finding what you're looking for. Scott W. thegoodsgt
Dr. Pepper Resins makes them, though not sure if they're suitable for the X. http://www.drpepperresins.com/48.html If you should go the scratchbuilding route, here are some nice photos. http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=200261
Neeko
The covers for the AIM-9X are much different than the ones for the -9L/M, so the Dr. Pepper covers would not be accurate. That being said, they wouldn't really be too hard to scratchbuild either. Just stretch some round sprue to the right diameter and taper one end, lop off the -9X seeker on the kit missile, and splice the cover part on. The RBF tag and bungee can be applied separately as convenience dictates. All in all it's pretty basic actually, and the -9X is a much easier shape to do than the covers for the -9L/M.
