Daniel_B
I know for a fact that the cockpit differences have been discussed many times here over the years. Look back thru the old threads here in the Jet Modeling section, and also the In-Progress forum.
dsmith
I have been wondering this too, as I am working on a Monogram F-14A kit. If the engines are the same as the set for the Hasegawa kit, then they would be too big. I have seen somebody shoehorn the Aires pit for the Hasegawa kit into a Monogrma kit though. As far as if the -A set will work for a -B or -D, it really depends on how accurate you want to be. If you are doing an early -B, then yes it should be fine. However, the later -B's had some differences in the RIO's pit, mainly a square PITDS screen, and the stick on the left console. If you want to do a -D, then there are a lot more things to change, including the control columns, both IP's, both IP coamings, seats, and the HUD. Those are the major changes I can think of off the top of my head, but the experts will know more. Oh, and one more thing, you will want to change the wheels too as the ones in the kit are not correct for any version. Cheers, -Doug :)

If you're building the Revell F-14A, then you can use the True Details cockpit. I used it on mine and fits pretty good. You'll have to do some sanding on the bottom of the pit to get it to fit with the nose gear well. Steal Beach makes some stuff for the Revell Tomcat as well. I've used the Correct Gun and Nose from them with good results. I would also get the Royal Resin wheels for it. I hope that helps.
catfan
OK so i am thinking of buying this set and see if it fits in the monogram kit. but what i am wondering to theses to have it is OK on the monogram kit and academy kit the roof of the top of the wheel well is on the bottom of the interior tub of both kits. so would the Aires upgrade include this part? Daniel_B
Okay, so I think you're gonna have a hard time finding someone who has this set who can give you a definite answer. Partly because it's apparently a new release, but mostly because I think most people who are willing to spend the money an Aires cockpit costs are gonna want to put it in one of the best kits, Hasegawa or Hobby Boss, not R/M (with its soft details and raised panel lines) or Academy (with its big fat schnozz and other less-obvious shape problems). But since this new set is specifically designed for the Academy kit, and you obviously can't build it without the top of the wheel-well and its slot to attach the nose gear to, logic would tell you that it probably comes with a resin part for it, like the True Details one does... PlasticWeapons
Looking at the Aires site for the Academy kit cockpit set, I don't see the nose wheel well set you've mentioned. http://www.aires.cz/catalog/?s=F-14&category_name=&filter_scale_2=1%3A48&posts_per_page=
