Rodney
I have the Eduard Mig-21 and have been looking through reviews to see what colors people have used to match with the pre-painted photo-etch. So far, I have not seen anybody mention a match using Model Master enamel paints. Has anybody made a match or found a mix? I was thinking of starting this kit soon but want to order the paints ahead of time. Thank you, Rodney
marvin20
Rodney, Model Master makes an enamel paint called USSR Interior Blue/Green. here's the link to the color on the Testor's website: http://www.testors.com/product/0/2135/_/USSR_Interior_BlueGreen_%28SG%29_MM_-_12_oz._Bottle And here is the link to the product at www.spruebrothers.com: http://store.spruebrothers.com/interior-bluegreen-model-master-enamel-paint-p2699.aspx HTH QT
SoarinSukhoi
Model Master USSR Interior Blue Green is neither accurate nor does it match the PE. I haven't seen any MM mixes to match the PE. If you don't mind using acrylics, Gunze Aqueous can be used in a rather simple mix. Just use half H25 Sky Blue and half H46 Emerald Green and then adjust slightly from there. Modelmkr
See here, post #470. 50/50 mix of Gunze Sangyo H25 Sky Blue and H46 Emerald Green. or In the Testors Auto lacquer paint line (3oz spray can), their "Tropical Turquoise" is pretty much a dead on match to the PE colour. See here, post #9. HTH. Edited November 22, 2011 by Modelmkr
Rodney
Thanks for the help. I don't mind Gunze Aqueos, but need to track down a source. Sprue Brothers does not seem to carry this line of paint. It may be easier to track down the Testor's auto laquer. Thanks, I start doing some searches. Rodney
Linden Hill
AKAN 73005 is a good match for the emerald green cockpit interior ex-factory http://www.lindenhillimports.com/akan.htm
Pep
not really close to the eduard PR but IMHO Pollyscale's glacier green is pretty close to the russian green.
Dave Williams
Unfortunately, paints matching the "real" cockpit color usually are useless for matching the Eduard pre-painted PE. Many times their colored PE isn't even close.
toadwbg
Heres a good article on matching the color with Gunze http://studiogekko.blogspot.com/2011/04/eduard-mig-21-cockpit-colour.html Here's another one using Tamiya to mix: http://drewemanton.com/czech_mf/czech_bed.html Edited November 27, 2011 by toadwbg
