DutyCat
The Spacecraft is on its way for an 8 1/2 month trip. The rover is aiming to touch down in Gale Crater, a sediment filled feature. Curiosity's mission is to look specifically for signs of microbial life and the environmental conditions that could support life. Video of the launch is quickly found on Nasa's web site. In depth information about the mission is on JPL's MSL mission pageJPL's MSL mission page. Arrival on Mars set for 12 August. DutyCat
Yes, it will be great to see what it comes up with. I am surprised more people have not chimed in. This is a huge mission. I guess this is not a "space" board. Edited November 28, 2011 by DutyCat

Yeah, I've been a space buff for as long as I can remember...it kind of gets in your blood when you've had a grandfather work on the Titan program, and you can walk to the end of your street and see the West Coast Atlas V launch facility off in the distance at Vandenberg AFB ;)
