Barneydhc82
Needing something a bit different to work on, I dug the old 1:32 scale Williams Bros Gee Bee Z kit out from the stash and decided that this would be quick and OOB. The interior is fairly good however there was no flooring in the cockpit so I added a couple of foot skid pads from brass scrap and seat belts (buckles from the spares box and foil straps) The interior was installed and the fuselage closed up with no filler required on the seams I attached the wings and tail but did not added the landing gear because of the tiny masking required Then started masking. There were good scale three views and I made copies of these on stiff paper to be used as templates for masking...after painting the whole thing yellow using Model Master enamel Next came the Gloss Black again with MM enamel. And then the engine was built up and painted..but the thing needs some sanding on the top of the cylinders so that it will fit into the cowling More to come later Barney Edited November 28, 2011 by Barneydhc82
Lucien Harpress
Hm- never seen a Gee Bee in that color before. Looking really sharp so far!
curt66140
Great looking Z, the Gee Bee series of racers are my favorite from the Cleveland air race era. Can't wait to see it done. Curt
Barneydhc82
Thanks for the comments guys. The model is on it's gear and decalling is progressing slowly..by the way the decals are at least 30 years old but they are very thin and NO cracking, splitting or curling.
