Eduard SU-27

Recommended Posts

Did anyone spot the SU-27 listed in the potential Jan releases?

I'm guessing it's a repop of Academy's SU-27 + some resin/etch and funky markings.

But seriously 135.00 ?? I'm not even sure if that is euros or usd, if it's euros that's CRAZY money!

Matt

Eduard usually lists their products in $US. I imagine it will be done the same way as the MiG-29UB was done. It is $102 :jaw-dropping:http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/Plastic-kits/MiG-29UB-1-48.html?cur=2 Thank god I have no interest in the Su-27. It is bad enough I am salivating over the MiG-21MF Czech special addition for half that price. I think I will stay with my OEZ kits and Academy with the QuickBoost correction set. ALL of which I already have a plethora of. It is no small wonder this hobby is on its death-bed. It will most likely dye out with our generation. These prices might even speed it up. For example, there is NO REASON for Trumpeter kits to be so expensive. Those prices only came down some after Stevens Intl lost the exclusive on Trumpeter here in the US.

wow, 135 USD is pretty expensive! my guess is that common retail price will be more like 110-115$... still expensive...

wolfpack repop of 1/48 su-27ub is 85USD(often 70$+shipping)... with lots of resin, some PE, metal pitot, and good decals...(ok there could be an agreement between Korean companies... but i don't think it will make more than a 10-15$ difference ea)

i can get the su-27s as low as 20$+shipping...(that's why i've got 8) so, it's like a 100$ bundle that eduard should offer, to match the market... and my expectations...

Meh, i thought people would notice it already, but Eduard jack up their prices A LOT. For example, the MiG-29, 102 bucks on their website, and 53 here: http://www.hobbyshop.cz/shop/1-48-plastic-kits/6896-mig-29ub-limited-148-kit.html

Same with MiG-29 wheels for example. Around 50 % price increase. So i would guess Su-27 ends up around 65-70 dollars.

Actually it is $63 and not 53 on that site. plus you will notice it is out of stock. Once they get it in stock it will be up. I think that Hanants is about the best representative of a good price. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/EDK1162

Check one more time please. 53 USD, 52.58, actually. In stock or not in stock, invalid point really. Eduard jack up their prices, and they follow MSRP, shops do not.

And how do you know the price will increase if they got in stock? The price is fixed, it won't increase just because they get it in stock.

I did check when you convert to US$ it comes to $63.10 including Tax. I should not even be paying VAT since the kit would be going to the US. http://www.hobbyshop.cz/shop/1-48-plastic-kits/6896-mig-29ub-limited-148-kit.html This is one reason I do not order from any Czech hobby shop, because they overcharge on everything including postage. If I have to order from eastern Europe I go to Jadar see and compare. http://www.hobbyshop.cz/shop/1-48-plastic-kits/6897-mig-21smt-weekend-148-kit.html http://www.jadarhobby.pl/eduard-84129-mig21smtmtweekend-edition-148-p-26355.html

The price is NOT fixed It is a store price and can change at any time, Up or Down. But regardless, the point is that the price for these kits is ridiculous. When I used to import into the US from HiPM my shipping was 20% of the cost of the kit when it is sold in the same country it makes no sense. I like ordering from Poland because they do not charge VAT when it leaves the EU.

Done any grocery shopping recently?

Yip, and it's the easiest and clearest way to see how much everything has increased in price over the last year the World over.

$135(£87) for a kit thats more than likely going to contain everything you're going to need isn't that bad, especially when you compare it to Hasegawa's latest releases including the F15 at £75, which would still require £80 of AM stuff thrown at it to bring it up to a detailed standard.

Well, that is too bad for you. For me it costs 53 dollars. Either way, my point was the Eduard jack their prices up, regardless if *you* pay 53 or 63.

The price for the MF kit has been static since it has been released, so i still don't understand where this "up and down" comes from. Compare MiG-29A kit for example then. 90 bucks vs 45. Yes, 45 for me, whatever. And yes, it is in stock. I wouldn't say that is too bad for the kit.

Someone at Eduards has been talking to a Hasegawa price setter...and making money was the topic of the hour w/a heavy dose of profit

margin at the start.

Customer feedback will be discussed on a date TBA...

I'd rather pay as little as possible and put my money in the upgrades, considering the surgeons in DA House for help. I could see if I were moving to 1:32, like one a year at that price and with Zacto and Haneto models ready for purchase, I'm all set he he.

I think they are pricing people out of this hobby, I am one of those.

Right. This has to be one of the most hysterical threads ever on ARC.

I just got MiG-21SMT kit, and it has to be one of the best valued kits on the marked.

No, just out of their pool of potential sales.

I'm still happily buying most of my kits for $10-40CDN, mostly under $20. I just don't buy the uberkits and stick to simpler/older kits and maybe some aftermarket decals. Most expensive kit in my stash was $50.

I'm not a big mark for the Su-27, so I'll wait a few months (or even a year or two) and see if the price comes down to something we'd consider more reasonable. If it never does, the gods know I have plenty of models in my stash to keep me busy well past my death.
