AVGBob
I built a plane out of 2x4's and an old radio flyer wagon when I was kid. Pushed myself of my parents roof and broke my arm. Does that count for anything? It more fall than fly, but it was fun. Edited December 17, 2011 by AVGBob

tdogg
I figured there would be a thread like this, I was curious to see what types you all had a ride on. I guess my list isn't too bad not as big as some but bigger than others lol First flight at the age of 2 was in a CC-109 Cosmopolitan though I don't remember a thing from that ride lol First flight I remember was in a CC-137 Husky in 1984 so that's where the list will start. CC-130H CC-138 Twin Otter CH-135 Twin Huey CH-136 Kiowa Schweizer SGS 2-33A(Air Cadet glider) C172 C150 Piper Cherokee Dash 8 100 767-200 & 300 737-200, 400, & 800 A310 A319 A320 A330-200 Also here is an album I made on a.net showing each type and the airline/military that they belonged to. http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?album=29659&page_limit=15&disp_order=asc&photos_in_album=19&album_name=Types+of+aircraft+I%27ve+flown+on&album_creator=tdogg&page=1 Almost forgot, it's not much as some of you are pilots and such but I did get some stick time on a C172 in fact it's one of my most memorable times in an a/c. While in air cadets my C.O. owned the plane and was taking cadets for sight seeing flights, I had taken ground school with him so when I sat in the front right I didn't suspect that I'd really be the F.O.! after take off he gave me control of the plane, told me when to turn, got to take it all the way to finals when he had to take her back. He said I did a great job but to use more rudder for adjustments on my turns. Said if there wasn't two other cadets in the plane he would've let me do a touch and go!! Damn!!! Still hope to get my PPL some day and take my kids up for a ride! Edited June 4, 2013 by tdogg

82Whitey51
How in heaven's name did you wrangle that ride??? My last tour was with VXS-1 (the Naval Research Lab's air component), we were tasked with bringing it into service as a research platform. It was crewed by civilian airship pilots but myself (an enlisted aircrewman at the time) and one of our pilots flew in it for evaluation and input on how it could be used. It was a lot of fun, obviously a whole different aspect of flight. The pilots made the point to put aside what we knew about how an airplane flies and think of it more as a "submarine" cruising through the ocean. I gained a new appreciation for those guys tooling around over the football games after taking a turn in the pilots seat! It was a workout to maintain a heading, no auto pilot or trim on that sucker, constant inputs with both feet and hands and lots of lag between your input and the ships response.
