UKPonchoMan
This will be using the Hasegawa A-Plus boxing, with markings from a Microscale sheet. I am using a Model Technologies etch sheet for some of the detail.
cpoud117
Nice start! It's gonna be the one with the yellow band all over the tail, right?
UKPonchoMan
That's the one I will hopefully post some updates after Christmas as the wings are on and in the process of being filled and sanded down...
UKPonchoMan
Progress.... wings and tail attached, filled and sanded... Edited December 28, 2011 by UKPonchoMan
UKPonchoMan
Progress! Now primed...
cpoud117
Neat! What primer do you use?
UKPonchoMan
Alclad Grey Primer - it seems to be relatively benign but also covers well. I may try Mr Surfacer 1200 at some point - I've tried it (and Tamiya) as spray cans but never really got on with them...
UKPonchoMan
First coat of Light Compass Ghost Grey (FS36375) is on :)
UKPonchoMan
A little more progress to report - unfortunately work has been getting in the way... The Neutral Grey is on and the dark grey will follow next weekend...
Eric2020
I think this Viper has to be painted in the 3 tone of greys? Being FS36375 FS36270 & FS36118
UKPonchoMan
Yep - the dark grey is now on and I will be posting some more pics later (with luck!)
UKPonchoMan
Over the past year or so I've painted a couple of F-16s and noticed that the Xtracolor Gunship Grey (FS36118) seemed very light. I put this down to the matt coat, but I've just painted two more and had the same problem. I pulled out a fresh tin, and the results have been...interesting... These are the two tins - definitely the same paint:- Although quite clearly different:- And on the models:- Just to confirm I wasn't going mad, I checked my copy of FS595b. The first picture shows the old tin, the second the new one:- Edited March 6, 2012 by UKPonchoMan
UKPonchoMan
Progress...I've resprayed the dark grey - looking quite good now... Once I sort out the nose probe and paint the radome it'll be time for a coat of gloss and some decals :)
cpoud117
Nice job, the colors look spot on! What is the planned loadout?
Eric2020
She looks very good to me Chris! I have one standard for the vipers, as I have trouble seeing the colours right. I can see these very good however. I use Humbrol 125 for the gunship, and that looks good too. Minus is that you have to varnish all the paints. Will it have shadow white tailcode? UKPonchoMan
It's being built as the display aircraft - My link
UKPonchoMan
The F-16A is also ready for glossing and decalling...
UKPonchoMan
And more progress here too :)
Pete
This is looking good, and your other builds too. But, I'm wondering why you do a glosscoat over Xtracolor paint, which is already glossy?
UKPonchoMan
I've never been able to get it smooth enough to satisfy me, so I tend to put a couple of coats of gloss to even things out. One day I may even get the hang of this modelling lark!
UKPonchoMan
Finally Finished!
